The Claremont vest had an outing down under in this popular race on the north shore of Sydney harbour. 850 Sydneysiders (and me!) turned out at 8am for a 10km or 5km, starting amongst gum trees, screeching parrots and glorious winter sunshine. The 10km route had amazing glimpses of the harbour below and the cityscape, between steep switchbacks and killer hills that wouldn’t be out of place at Prudhoe XC. And of course, a barbie as soon as you crossed the finish!

  1. For an obscure suburb of Sydney, Roseville has had more than its share of Claremont vests this year. I did the Lindfield 10K on 1st April I can vouch for those hills. It was a 2 lap course so we had to go up each of those things twice. It was still summer when I was ther. Even at 8 am it was hot and humid so the locals had a big advantage over me. I only managed 55 minutes and came in 208 th out of 755, 6 th over 60
