Druridge Bay was the idyllic setting for this increasingly popular Marathon and Half Marathon, organised by the North East Marathon Club.
The race was multi terrain, 2 laps for the half and 4 laps for the full marathon which made it very spectator friendly. Each lap consisted of a loop around the lake by the visitor centre, a one mile stretch along the beach and undulating paths and tracks.
A great morning out – not my fastest but the first time I have run quicker for the second 6.5 miles. It was quite flat but twisty and rough under foot, my feet suffered in those lightweight racers. Someone in a Claremont vest did the full marathon but embarrassingly I have no idea who I was cheering on!
